Auxiliary Mission for Northside Hospital- Atlanta campus
An important tradition and extension of the health care teams at each Northside facility, the Northside Hospital Auxiliary provides compassionate support and quality service to patients, families and visitors, and also performs vital fundraising to support special projects that benefit the hospitals and the communities they serve.
Is volunteering for you?
Ideal candidates for a volunteer experience typically:
- Outgoing and friendly
- Want to make a contribution
- Have reasonably good mobility, as most services require walking and/or pushing wheelchairs
- Able to commit to at least one shift per week
Volunteer Opportunities
The volunteer opportunities at Northside facilities are rich and varied, and currently exist in the following primary support areas:
- Customer Service
- Patient and Family Support
- Community Outreach
Possible activities include, but are not limited to:
- Support staff in the caring of babies (Atlanta location)
- Taking photos of newborns (Atlanta location)
- Working in the gift shop - Immediate evening/weekend positions available.
- Delivering flowers
- Transporting/escorting patients/help with wayfinding
- Visiting and cheering patients
- Assisting and supporting patient families
- Helping at the information desks
- Performing puppet shows in elementary schools (Atlanta location)
Teen Summer Program - Atlanta campus
Mature, responsible teens over age 14 may apply for a limited number of positions in the volunteer program. This summer experience helps young people explore health careers while developing a sense of self worth. The learning environment provides them with new role models, new experiences and interaction with a diverse population. Applications are available in local high school guidance offices in mid-February.

How to Volunteer at the Atlanta campus?
The following steps that are required to become a Volunteer at Northside Hospital:
- Call the Atlanta Auxiliary Office at (404) 851-8707 to request an application packet.
- Complete the application form.
- Sign the agreement form and return this with the completed application.
- After you have been notified of receipt of your application, call the Director of Volunteer Services at (404) 303-3731 to schedule an interview. This interview will aid us in determining your areas of interest and help in appropriate placement.
- At this interview, be prepared to sign a Background Check consent form by bringing your driver’s license and Social Security numbers with you.
- A TB skin test will also be given free of charge in our Employee Health office at the time of interview.
All Northside Hospital Volunteers are required to be members of the Auxiliary, attend an orientation, purchase a volunteer uniform to wear while on duty and pay annual dues. In addition, a once a week, four-hour commitment to your assigned service is required.
